TESTIMONIALS
"Every attendance, every person that gives itself and trust us a bit of its privacy and health is always beautiful and remarkable. It marked me the delicacy, the helpfulness, the donation and the affection of the volunteers amongst themselves and all the inhabitants to which we dedicate our attendance. Each one with its own way to be, too different, but the higher objective is common".
Gabriela S. de Camargo, Dentist Surgeon.

Barco Sorriso is a non-proft voluntary organization, focused on improving the quality of life on the isolated and hard to reach communities of the Brazilian coast, mainly of children an elders, through free and qualified dental care, besides health education.
Barco Sorriso started with a lawyer/cultural producer who knew the communities in a charitable action called "Mutirão da Alegria that collects and takes candies and gifts to the little children, every year, on Children’s Day. In this trip, that happened in 2013, Lorayne was faced with some toothy teeth decayed and in a state of root because they were unhealthy. This broke her heart and made her react: she talked to the dentists she knew, saw some possibility of doing something and decided! Invited, through a social network, anyone who wanted to participate in the first expedition and managed to gather 20 volunteers, between them 5 dentists. The action was a total success and never stopped since then!
You can help being a volunteer, donating materials or money, announcing and sharing our project.
You just need to register in this link - http://goo.gl/forms/4wZHsbfeQQ -and wait to be called =D
Anyone can participate as a volunteer! There are internal vacancies like Administrators / Managers, Lawyers, Accountants, Advertisers, etc. and vacancies in actions, for Dentists, Dental Prosthesis Technicians, Medics, Nurses, Social Assistants, Cooks, Recreators, Teachers, General Assistants, etc.
The volunteers only carry the cost of a travel insurance that is around R$30,00 (Brazilian Real) by person. The volunteers can also buy a kit with a shirt and botton, but its not mandatory.
We leave from the city of Curitiba at 5:30AM, usually on Saturdays, and return on Sundays at night. The trip is done by bus until the city of Paranaguá and after we board a boat and sail for about 3h until we get to the first communities. We spent the whole day attending, camp at night and also attend in the next day.
If you have more questions about the action, there is a Volunteer’s Manual, available here on the site at I WANT TO HELP tab, that answers almost every one. If still remains some question, it will be clarified in the voluntary’s meeting that always happens in the week before the action. Other doubts can be answered by email.
